Szabolcs Németh is a fourth-generation beekeeper who, along with his wife Petra, established their beekeeping operation in Máriakálnok, on the banks of the Mosoni-Danube. While his great-grandfather started with just a few hives, they now have three hundred beehives. Under the name “BioBEEKEPERS” their bees collect nectar locally and also migrate to areas with organic crops. Their Goldenrod honey is a rarity, primarily found in the Hanság region, and scarcely produced elsewhere in the country.
A few years ago, Szabolcs founded a cooperative with fellow beekeepers to assist with sales and promote the transition to organic farming. They now have more than sixty beekeeper members.
